Karolina Kumiega, the 23-year-old Polish rider from Bydgoszcz, is the latest addition to the 2023 UAE Team ADQ roster. After her first season in professional cycling with Valcar - Travel & Service in 2022, the time has now come for her big jump into the UCI Women's World Tour. An important step for the young and tenacious Polish athlete.

"I am very happy to be able to be part of the UAE Team ADQ," said Karolina Kumiega, who started cycling at the age of 12 and has a great passion for the mountains. "This is a great opportunity for me. The last few months have been crazy for me, so much has changed for me, but I still managed to achieve this great goal. I am happy to start this new adventure. I am convinced that this team is the ideal environment for me to continue growing. It is one of the strongest teams in women's cycling and I really couldn't wish for anything better. I will also have some very experienced riders as teammates, so I will be able to learn a lot from them. It's a dream”.

Kumiega, winner of a stage at Giro Toscana Femminile 2022, is clear about her next goals: "I am looking forward to participating in some of the Classics and in particular the cobbled races. I like these types of competitions and want to improve. My tasks will also be to help the sprinters for the sprints and to be ready for the breakaways. In the future I would like to concentrate on the harder classics on the cobbles and the short stage races. I also have a good propensity for time trials and would like to work on improving in this speciality as well. I still have a lot of work to do to improve and grow as a rider, but this team can help me achieve my goals”.

UAE Team ADQ General Manager Rubens Bertogliati said: “Karolina has shown that she has a strong potential and is ready for the jump to the World Tour team. She achieved a good victory in the 2022 season finale and now it is time to take a step up, which is very important for the team and the rider”.
