Second in a row victory for Lara Gillespie of the UAE Development Team who on the finish line of the third stage of the Giro Mediterraneo in Rosa managed once again to put her own wheel ahead of all the others. The Irish national champion performed an extraordinary sprint after a great team effort. In fact, in second place was UAE Team ADQ athlete Karolina Kumiega, while in fourth place was Federica Venturelli.

"This is the best birthday present ever," said Lara Gillespie, who just turned 23 today, "today we executed the plan perfectly, my teammates were phenomenal because they controlled the race all day and in the final the leadout was perfect. I am very proud of them."

"This was really a great day for us," explained Karolina Kumiega, a great leadout expert whom we often saw in action supporting Chiara Consonni, "I am very happy because the team's work was perfect.

There are very few highlights of the race, because the UAE Development girls were perfect. No team was able to get into a breakaway because Kunz, Pellegrini, Piergiovanni and Venturelli were at the front of the peloton making a high pace. As mentioned, the race was decided in the sprint and Lara Gillespie once again proved her superiority. A superiority that was even more overwhelming because the UAE Development Team train was perfect.

"Just when you're the favorite, it's easier to get distracted and risk losing," said sports directors Davide Gani and Giuseppe Lanzoni.
