First win in the elite category for Federica Venturelli who took first place in the fourth stage of the Giro Mediterraneo in Rosa. This was another important day for UAE Development Team because Lara Gillespie finished second and in this way defended her leadership in the overall classification without any problems.

Today the girls directed by Davide Gani and Giuseppe Lanzoni were once again perfect as they helped both stage winner Federica and overall leader Lara. In fact throughout the stage the opposing teams tried to attack UAE Development Team, but Hannah Kunz, Federica Piergiovanni, Francesca Pellegrini and Karolina Kumiega always controlled at the front of the group with great authority.

"It was a very hard stage, but I felt I could do well today," said 19-year-old Italian Federica Venturelli, "because the gradients of the climb were not excessive and I knew I could do well in a sprint of a small group. I am overjoyed to have won after the many podiums of the past few days. Surely it is an even greater joy to share this victory with such a fantastic team that supported me until the last meters."

Tomorrow UAE Development Team will defend the overall lead of Irish national champion Lara Gillespie and the white jersey of best young rider of Federica Venturelli in the last stage of Giro Mediterraneo in Rosa
