UAE Development Team makes debut in Spain at Women Pro Cycling Race Costa de Almería

January 27, 2024

Countdown launched before the kick-off of our 2024 cycling session. The women team the girls under the management of Davide Gani, Aida Nuño Palacio and Giuseppe Lanzoni will make their debut at the Women Pro Cycling Race Costa de Almería, a race that will take place on Sunday, January 28 in Almeria, Spain.
The team is currently holding a training camp in Almeria, Spain, with the goal of getting to know each other, training and welcoming the new athletes into the big UAE family. As was announced in the past few weeks, three new athletes have arrived: Lola Bryson-Boe, Hannah Kunz, and Federica Venturelli. These girls have been added to Beatrice Caudera, Carlotta Cipressi, Elisabeth Ebras, Sara Fiorin, Lara Gillespie, Zahra Hussain, Hannah Kunz, Francesca Pellegrini, Federica Piergiovanni, Emma Redaelli, Sophia Zwaan.

“An aspect that is very close to my heart is the development of young riders, as they hold the key to our future success - said Head of Sport Cherie Pridham - I am passionate about building upon the strong foundation of our Development Team and establishing a talent identification and recruitment system that is unrivalled, ensuring the longevity and excellence of our World Tour team. UAE Team ADQ is making great efforts to become the leading women’s team in the professional ranks in the years to come, pursuing great personal and collective goals, inspiring others to join us on this incredible journey. Together, we redefine what it means to be champions on and off the bike."

An important goal that will guide the UAE Development Team athletes from the very first competition. During the two training camps held in the past two months, the athletes were able to enjoy the same training as the UAE Team ADQ, and during the December training camp in Oliva, Spain, the girls spent a lot of time together with the athletes and staff of the World Tour team.
This was a unique opportunity to experiment the DNA of a team that always wants to improve and push their athletes to improve not only as athletes, but also as people.

Certainly the first race will be a great opportunity to start building great team chemistry. There will be 8 female athletes at the starting line of the Women Pro Cycling Race Costa de Almeria. This will be the first Line Up of the season: Bryson-Boe, Caudera, Ebras, Fiorin, Piergiovanni, Pellegrini, Redaelli, Zwaan.
