Safiya Alsayegh Wins 4 Medals At The Arab Track Cycling Cup.
Safiya Alsayegh, the Emirati rider of UAE Team ADQ, returns from Egypt with a prestigious haul of four medals won at the Arab Track Cycling Cup held at the Cairo velodrome.
Engaged with her national team, on the first day Monday, May 9th, she won a silver medal in the Team Sprint and then a bronze medal in the Elimination Race. Two more silver medals came on Wednesday, May 11th: one in the Individual Pursuit and the other in the 500 m TT.
At the end of the event, happy with the four medals she won, Safiya Alsayegh said, "It’s good to be back racing in the track. It’s always exciting and gives me a rush of adrenaline. The first edition finished with 4 medals for me and 12 in total for the UAE, which is a great success for the first edition of the Arab Track Cup. Next up is Gulf Games with a road championship before I head to Europe to join my team".
Safiya Alsayegh is the first professional cyclist in UAE history and this year she had already won national road and ITT titles as well as a bronze medal in the U23 ITT Asian Championships.
