Romandie #3: Persico 3rd. Bertizzolo is Orange Jersey

In the third stage of the Tour de Romandie Féminin, 131.9 km from Vernier to Nyon, Silvia Persico came very close to the success.

In the third stage of the Tour de Romandie FĂ©minin, 131.9 km from Vernier to Nyon, Silvia Persico came very close to the success, third in the sprint behind the winner, the German champion Liane Lippert (Movistar Team) and the Dutch Fem Van Empel (Team Jumbo-Visma).

In GC, Silvia Persico finished fifth and Erica Magnaldi eighth. The Swiss race was won by Demi Vollering (Team SD Worx) who had taken the lead yesterday at the end of the mountain stage.

Again today both Silvia Persico and Erica Magnaldi did well to stay in the front group in the decisive phase of the race. Twenty-five athletes were left to lead the race and to go for the victory in the sprint. It was not an easy sprint with no real sprinters. Silvia Persico played her cards close to her chest, was a little closed off and had to come back, but still took an excellent third place.

The other good news of the day concerned Sofia Bertizzolo, who won the Orange Jersey in the Points Classification.

So, a very positive Tour de Romandie came to an end for UAE Team ADQ, which continued its trail of good performances in this end of the season. The highlight was the thrilling stage victory achieved on the first day, last Friday, with Sofia Bertizzolo.

Next week it's time for the national teams for the Road European Championships, then focus on the last appointments of the season for the team.
