In the second stage of La Vuelta Femenina, an amazing performance by UAE Team ADQ and in particular Karlijn Swinkels.

In the second stage of La Vuelta Femenina, 118.3km from Buñol to Moncófar, a fine performance by UAE Team ADQ and in particular Karlijn Swinkels. 

The Dutch rider first won the QOM in Puerto de L'Oronet and then in the final sprint finished in third place and then wore the leader's jersey of the Mountain Classification on the podium.

The stage was won at the spirnt by Alison Jackson (EF Education-Cannondale) ahead of Blanka Vas (Team SD Worx - Protime) who is the new GC leader.

At the end of the race Karlijn Swinkels said: “I wanted to go for the QOM jersey so I could test my legs on the climb. I felt good and I’m happy to take the jersey. Afterwards we were supposed to sprint with Tereza [Neumanova], but she got dropped on the climb and didn’t come back to the bunch in time for the sprint, so it was up to me to contest the sprint for the team. I’m a bit sad for all the crashes that happened in the final, but of course I’m also happy to take this third place. It was a super hectic sprint, as the roads were wet and dangerous. Yet everyone knows, and everyone decided the risks she wanted to take. You will see me fighting for this jersey in the next few days”.

Tomorrow the 130.2km third stage from Lucena del Cid to Teruel.
