Third victory of the season for sprinter Chiara Consonni, who today sprinted to victory in the SPAR Flanders Diamond Tour.

Third victory of the season for sprinter Chiara Consonni, who today sprinted to victory in the SPAR Flanders Diamond Tour in Nijlen, Belgium. 

After 136.6 kilometres of racing and great work by the entire team, which also included some young UAE Development Team riders, perfect lead out by Federica Venturelli and Lara Gillespie and a powerful sprint by Chiara Consonni who could raise her arms to the sky once again. 

Beats Anniina Ahtosalo (Uno-X Mobility) and Kathrin Schweinberger (CERATIZIT-WNT).

Chiara Consonni said after the race: "I thought it would be a quieter race, but it wasn't at all because Lidl-Trek and EF didn't want to sprint and attacked all day. About halfway through the race we left a big group of about 30 riders. There were three of us at the front and Lara [Gillespie] and Federica [Veturelli] were great because they closed all the attacks and then in the final they led the sprint for me and I'm really happy that I managed to win. They all did a great job and I am very proud of my teammates".

Sports Director Cherie Pridham said: "With today's great day we end a great weekend here in Belgium. The team rode very well together, always according to our plan, with a strong and disciplined trio in the leading group. A special mention goes to Venturelli and Lara, who put Consonni in the best position to take the win".
