Chiara Consonni wins GP Eco Struct in Belgium

May 4, 2024

Another day of celebration for the UAE Development Team because Chiara Consonni sprinted to victory in the GP Eco Struct in Belgium. An important and well-deserved victory that once again shows the great quality of a sprinter who had also won the GP Liberation on April 25.

This victory is important because once again it was shown that the possibility of exchange between UAE Development Team and UAE Team ADQ athletes brings enormous benefits to both teams.
In fact Chiara Consonni is gradually getting into shape for the big events of the season by competing together with UAE Development Team athletes. At the same time, Beatrice Caudera, Sara Fiorin, Lara Gillespie, Hannah Kunz, Emma Redaelli, and Federica Venturelli have learned from Chiara and have shown that they can be excellent teammates.

In fact, the girls led by Davide Gani raced to perfection. In the first kilometers of the race there were attacks, but no rider managed to get into a breakaway. In the last kilometers the UAE Development Team women helped Chiara Consonni who won ahead of Anniina Ahtosalo and Daria Pikulik. It was also a day to remember for UAE Team ADQ because this morning Silvia Persico won the GP du Morbihan Femmes.

We did a good race from the start,” said Chiara Consonni, ”we fought as a team, we were all together in every cobble sector, then we tried to split the group many times. In the end I felt good. Federica Venturelli and Lara Gillespie did a great leadout, I believed in them and I am very happy for this victory."

Chiara Consonni, with her young UAE Development Team teammates, wins the GP Eco-Struct in Belgium.

UAE Team ADQ celebrates another victory for its riders, the third in just over 24 hours. After yesterday's and today's successes in France with Eleonora Gasparrini and Silvia Persico, sprinter Chiara Consonni raised her arms to the sky this afternoon as she competed with her young UAE Development Team teammates and sprinted to victory in the GP Eco-Struct in Belgium.

Nine days after her success at the Gran Premio della Liberazione in Rome on 25 April, the Italian sprinter returned to victory, demonstrating her excellent moment of condition. And once again the goodness of the project and the exchange of experience between the UAE Development Team and UAE Team ADQ athletes is confirmed.

The young Beatrice Caudera, Sara Fiorin, Lara Gillespie, Hannah Kunz, Emma Redaelli and Federica Venturelli worked very well first to keep the race under control and then to allow Chiara to contest her sprint. Consonni sprinted ahead of Anniina Ahtosalo and Daria Pikulik.

“We did a good race from the start,” said Chiara Consonni, “we fought as a team, we were all together in every sector of the cobblestones, then we tried to split the group many times. In the end, I felt good and knew I could sprint well. Federica Venturelli and Lara Gillespie did a great leadout, I believed in them and I am very happy for this victory”.

Tomorrow Chiara Consonni and the UAE Development Team will be busy again in Belgium at the Trofee Maarten Wynants in Helchteren.
