Today sprinter Chiara Consonni competed again with her young teammate of UAE Development Team at the Trofee Maarten Wynants.

Today sprinter Chiara Consonni competed again with her young teammate of UAE Development Team at the Trofee Maarten Wynants. After 116.6 kilometres, on the finish line in Helchteren, Consonni, who was already first yesterday at the Trofeo Eco-Struct, finished in third place. The sprint was won by Anniina Ahtosalo (Uno-X Mobility) over Scarlett Souren (VolkerWessels Women's Pro Cycling Team).

Once again the idea of including a UAE Team ADQ athlete within the UAE Development Team proved to be strategic. Today, the Davide Gani-led team was at
the start with Beatrice Caudera, Sara Fiorin, Lara Gillespie, Hannah Kunz and Federica Venturelli to face the 116 km course of the Trofee Maarten Wynants. After a breakaway attempt, the group came back together when there were 3 km to go. The UAE Development Team girls tried to make a train, but on this occasion everything did not go perfectly and Chiara Consonni finished third. Also in the Top 10 is Federica Venturelli, ninth. 

“I’m happy to race with UAE Developments girls - Chiara said - today the final was more technical than yesterday, we tried to do a good leadout, unfortunately we were back in the last Km, but the girls did an amazing job and I’m happy for this third place”.
