The final stage specialist strikes again in China. Chiara Consonni excelled in the final stages of the Tour of Chongming Island.

The final stage specialist strikes again in China. Chiara Consonni excelled in the final stages of races and it happened again today at the Tour of Chongming Island (2.WWT). Wonderful sprint of the Italian sprinter after 112.3 km in Chongming New City Park and beaten Daria Pikukik (Human Powered Health) and Martina Fidanza (CERATIZIT-WNT Pro Cycling). With the support of the entire team Consonni won the stage, the GC leader's yellow jersey and the green jersey of the points classification.

The race was always very controlled with the peloton leaving no room for attempts from afar. The team worked compactly around its captain. Chiara Consonni took a second and a first place in the two intermediate sprints, winning crucial bonus seconds for the GC. 

Chiara Consonni said: "I started with the intention of playing for the GC, aiming for the three intermediate sprints and I managed to take second in the first, win the second and then nothing in the third which was a bit chaotic. Having done it several times before I knew the finish line straight well and decided to play it all in the final sprint for the stage win. I knew I had to stay on the right side of the road, I did it very well and managed to win. I am very happy for me and for the whole team". 

The Italian had earlier in the day taken a fourth place in the first stage and a third place in the second stage. Today's is the fourteenth victory of the season for the UAE Team ADQ girls, Chiara Consonni's personal fourth.

Now a couple of days of rest then the season finale will be in China with the Gree-Tour of Guangxi Women's World Tour (km 144.6).
