Scandinavia: first WorldTour podium for Laura Tomasi

August 12, 2022

The Italian rider of UAE Team ADQ finished third at the end of the fourth stage of the Tour of Scandinavia.

Laura Tomasi celebrated her first WorldTour podium of her career today. The Italian rider of UAE Team ADQ finished third at the end of the fourth stage of the Tour of Scandinavia (Askim-Mysen, 119.2 km) in Norway. She was ready when the day's decisive breakaway of six riders escaped with just over three kilometres to go, and in the final sprint she took an excellent placing behind the winner Alexandra Manly (BikeExchange - Jayco) and Chloe Hosking (Trek-Segafredo).

Again today saw excellent teamwork and in the end Sofia Bertizzolo also took seventh place on the stage. A placing that allowed the latter to move up in the general classification to fifth place, 30 seconds behind leader Marianne Vos.

Tomasi had already tried to attack before, but in the final part of the race she was able to seize the right moment to enter into the decisive breakaway, which managed to reach the finish line despite the group's attempt to chase her down.

In previous days Sofia Bertizzolo had already finished tenth in the first stage and seventh yesterday in the third stage. For the second consecutive day UAE Team ADQ leads the team classification.

Tomorrow will be the first mountain stage from Vikersund to Norefjell of 127.4km. Sunday the final stage Lillestrøm - Halden of 154.3km.
