Pyrénées #1: Baril stay with the best

The 2nd CIC-Tour Féminin International des Pyrénées started today with the first stage of 129 km from Argelés-Gazost to Lourdes in France.

A stage that made an immediate selection. Our leader Olivia Baril did a good job to stay in the front group of 24 riders. She finished in 13th place without losing any time from the contenders for the GC.

After Grace Brown (FDJ - SUEZ) had nullified a last attempt at a solo sprint, the top group came back together in the final kilometres and the sprint for victory was won by South African Ashleigh Moolman (AG Insurance - Soudal Quick-Step).

Unlucky our young Ukrainian Yuliia Buriukova, of the UAE Development Team, and today competing with the WorldTour team. Knocked down by an opponent who fell in front of her, she didn't finish the race and ended up in hospital for checks.

Tomorrow we will climb further in Hautacam.
