September 26, 2022

In her process of growth and maturation as an athlete, Silvia Persico has decided to join UAE Team ADQ squad for 3 years for the 2023 season.

Italian Silvia Persico has undoubtedly been one of the biggest revelations of the 2022 international cycling women's season. From the bronze medal she picked up at the Cyclo-cross World Championships at the beginning of the year to her amazing results in the road races, culminating with a bronze medal at the World Championships in Wollongong 2022 last Saturday, she has enjoyed exponential growth and an enviable consistency of performance (ph. She has won a stage and the points classification at the Ceratizid Challenge by La Vuelta, two races in Italy and many prestigious placings in the international field: bronze medal at the Road Race World Championships, double stage podium and fifth place in the GC at the Tour de France, stage podium and seventh place in the GC at the Giro Donne, third place in the GC at the Elsy Jacobs Festival and other top 10 in important classics.

In her process of growth and maturation as an athlete, Silvia Persico has decided to join UAE Team ADQ squad for 3 years for the 2023 season.

Born in 1997, Silvia is in the midst of her maturation and has shown this year that she can fight with the strongest riders on the international scene. She is preparing to make the big leap into the World Tour. This choice represents a very important step in the career of Silvia Persico, who has always shown great tenacity, grit and determination.

Silvia Persico has big ambitions: “I’m looking forward to three very positive and important years for my career. I come from a team like Valcar where I grew up as a child and now, I have made this choice of UAE Team ADQ to continue my path of growth for the best. This season has made me understand a lot of things and with more freedom, I have won my space. I think I have shown that I can be a leader. And with the new team, I can only improve and gain even more experience”.

The decision to sign with UAE Team ADQ for three years is also based on shared values and a project that goes beyond cycling. “Knowing that our team and our activities as female athletes can be a source of inspiration for so many women, especially in the Arab world is definitely a very positive thing. It is a great honor for me to share these values related to sport and the empowerment of women”. Silvia concludes: “I'm happy to join this new team and I think it's important to get into the new group right away, to find harmony with the new teammates.

UAE Team ADQ General Manager Rubens Bertogliati said: “Silvia Persico is our key added value to the 2023 new squad. In recent months she has further demonstrated that she fully deserves her place in this team and that she can aim to be the leader of our team in the races that best suit her characteristics. She is a very serious girl who always puts in a lot of effort and has shown that she can guarantee consistent performance throughout the season. We are very excited to start to work with her, to build her skills, and kick off the competitions with her!
