November 8, 2022

British 25-year-old Elizabeth Holden is the 16th rider to complete the 2023 roster of UAE Team ADQ.

British 25-year-old Elizabeth Holden is the 16th rider to complete the 2023 roster of UAE Team ADQ. Born in Douglas, originally from the Isle of Man, for some years now she has chosen to live in Spain, where she can enjoy a more favorable climate for training. Last season she wore the Le Col - Wahoo jersey and is now ready to make the big leap into the WorldTour with the UAE women's team.

She loves the classics, has a good feel for time trials and in 2022 finished third in the British National TT Championships, fourth in the Road Race and came close to a podium in the final classification of the Lotto Belgium Tour.

"The World Tour has always been a goal ever since I started cycling," Lizzie explained, "so I'm super excited to start this new journey with UAE Team ADQ.  I think that I still have a lot to learn within cycling and with the team’s structure and its high-performance focus. I confident to say I am at  the right place at this stage in my career. Having the confidence from the team and being surrounded by such high-quality riders I think this will really push me to the next level”.

Next year will be very important for Holden. "I want to work hard and improve. I want to contribute to the team and help my new teammates achieving big goals. Personally, I think I still need to work on improving my self-confidence and my own ability. But I believe that being surrounded by such a positive and successful team will help me a lot".

Lizzie Holden is also fascinated by the project behind the team. "During my career, I have seen women's sports grow so much, so as a female athlete I feel it is important to empower and motivate other women to follow their dreams. For this reason, I am really excited to be part of the team’s broader project, which is to support and promote female sport, especially in the UAE".

UAE Team ADQ General Manager Rubens Bertogliati said: "We are delighted to welcome Elizabeth Holden to our team. She is a rider who has shown good progress this year and who we hope can confirm her progress in the years to come".
